We are looking for an Electrical / Hazardous Area Supervisor to join our team

The Role

The Electrical / Hazardous Area Supervisor will be responsible for assessing, estimating and managing Electrical / Hazardous Area Project work and planning, resourcing and coordinating inspection contracts.

This is a key role within the business and as such we need a strong communicator who is able to liaise with a variety of clients. Experienced of working as a hazardous area inspector / supervisor on industrial plants is required, along with good industrial knowledge of electrical installations installed in potentially explosive atmospheres. You must hold as a minimum requirement current certificates for CompEx Ex01-Ex04 and 18th Edition IEE Regulations.

It would also be advantageous if you have had previous experience working as an electrical qualifying supervisor. This could also lead into a training role in our hazardous area Compex training centre.
The successful applicant will be responsible for:

• Project management of Electrical / Hazardous Projects and inspection contracts, ensuring they meet their specifications, budgets and timescales whilst maintaining a high quality and safety performance.
• Liaising and Communication with clients & subcontractors
• Writing, review and communication of Risk Assessments, Method Statements & Safe Working Procedures
• Allocation & supervision of labour & subcontractors
• Obtaining Authorisation / Permits to Work
• Working hands-on when required
• Provide overall supervision & technical backup with regards to the electrical standards BS 7671 and Hazardous Area set of standards – BS EN 60079
• Completion of Safety Audits, Inspections and reports
• Assistance in the estimation of projects
• Punctuality & conscientiousness
• IT skills including MS Excel, Word & Outlook

Typical work activities

• Liaise with client to carry out projects to their requirement
• Writing and reviewing workplace risk assessments, method statements and safe working procedures.
• Supervision of Projects and Subcontractors (where necessary)
• Review & allocation of construction work packages
• Coordination, allocation and supervision of Labour
• Technical back up for E&I installation, testing and commissioning
• Attend meetings & write reports.
• Progress reporting to Client and employer
• Preparation, review & handover of test sheets and completion documentation
• Completion of Safety Audits, Inspections and reports
• Providing innovative and value engineering solutions
• Assistance Estimating projects, labour costs, and timescales
• Making sure employees comply with site procedures, Quality, Health, Safety & Environmental regulations, attaining ZERO accidents.
• Proactively driving continued improvements to enhance the sites Health and Safety culture.

Qualifications

• A recognised apprenticeship or training scheme
• City & Guilds Part 1 & 2 Electricians Certificate, AM2 (or equivalent) or ONC or NVQ3 with relevant experience.
• CompEx Ex01-Ex04 Current Qualification Certificate
• 18th Edition IEE Regulations Cert
• CCNSG Card

Desirable Qualifications

• IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
• HNC or HND qualification
• C&G 2391 Electrical Inspection & Testing

Desired Skills & Experience

• Have proven experience in a variation of process engineering sectors, preferably COMAH / industrial sites..
• A strong team leader with the initiative and drive to make a significant contribution to the organisation.
• The capacity to meet project deadlines
• The employee will need to be flexible as there may be overtime and other duties not mentioned in this job description.
• Must possess a strong commitment to Health & Safety, Quality & Environmental and attend meetings when required.
