CompEx Ex11 Mechanical Course – Certified Hazardous Area Mechanical Training

The Ex11 Mechanical Course covers three days consisting of mechanical hazardous area awareness training, including the established CompEx Foundation Module (Ex F), with a written examination and finally overall core competency is validated with an installation and inspection practical assessment on mechanical equipment.

Ex11 follows a syllabus to enable safe working practices for the international standard ISO 80079 Parts 36 & 37 and allows employers to benchmark the core competency requirements of both their staff and sub-contractors.

Who Should Attend The Course?

The CompEx Ex11 Mechanical Course is aimed to give mechanical engineers, supervisors and technicians an understanding of electrical and mechanical hazards that can give rise to danger in the workplace. Individuals will have the opportunity to demonstrate their competency in the preparation, installation, inspection and maintenance of mechanical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres and hazardous areas.

The JTL registration form must be completed and brought to the course, along with photographic identification (ie passport/photo driving licence). All personnel attending the course should have a good understanding of the English Language and Technical Engineering terminology.


WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING

You MUST bring with you some means of photographic identification (i.e. passport, driving licence, company ID card etc.) together with your National Insurance Number.

You MUST also bring your supporting documentation/Certificates as listed on the qualifications criteria document that you will be provided with for verification. Original copies only will be accepted. Also you will receive a CompEx registration form, please complete this and bring it with you on the first day.

All delegates must wear PPE in the workshop during the practical assessment of the course. You will be provided with all the necessary equipment, tools, PPE, stationery and course instruction notes to carry out the course. A toolbox EEMUA Publication Guide will also be provided. You are permitted to bring your own stationery if you wish to do so.

You will need to wear your own steel cap boots and appropriate work wear. We recommend overalls or long trousers with a long sleeved top as the practical assessments are in a workshop environment. Gloves and glasses are provided if required.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Prior to attendance on the course, the Employer must provide written evidence of the candidate’s mechanical competency.

Course delegates are required to possess relevant mechanical qualifications and evidence must be brought to the course.

Candidates who cannot provide evidence of their qualifications or who do not have an Employer to complete the competency letter will receive a nontechnical person’s certificate.


EXAMINATION & CERTIFICATION

This course is JTL Approved and is conducted in accordance with their training standards. A JTL approved certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the examination.


Please Note: Failure to report promptly each day may result in you missing vital elements of the course and will prevent you from receiving your certificate. As part of the training involves communication in hazardous situations, it is essential that all participants can read, speak and understand English fluently.
