The course will provide delegates with the required competence based training and assessment in the selection, use, maintenance, and inspection of electrical equipment in potentially explosive atmospheres, in accordance with the requirements of IEC 60079 series of relevant standards.

Course Objectives:

On completion of successful assessments, candidates shall be issued with a certificate of core competence by JTL and EMMUA.

CompEx

CompEx is a national joint training initiative developed and implemented by the Engineering Equipment and Material Users Association (EEMUA). JTL is supported by the Health and Safety Executive.

JTL who is that national training agent for the Electrical contracting industry has been appointed to develop, operate and manage the training provision across the UK and has licensed and accredited a number of centres to deliver the training and assessment.

Training Support:
A C&P Engineering Services Presentation will be delivered using supporting course hand-outs.  The EEMUA Publication 186 A Practicioners Handbook will be available in centre for the duration of the course.  Also EEMUA Publication 214 Toolbox Guide will be issued to all candidates.  Theory training is followed by practical training and assessments.

What You Need To Bring

Delegates will need to provide photographic identification as well as their National Insurance number on their first day of training. The following photographic identification is accepted: Passport, Driving License etc.
All delegates must wear PPE in the workshop during the 4th and 5th day of the practical assessment of the course.

Entry Requirements

This course is JTL Approved and is conducted in accordance with their training standards. A JTL approved certificate will be awarded on successful completion of the examination.

Delegates must must be fully conversant with the make up of “Ex” certified glands; using steel wire armoured and multi core screened cables. The continuity and insulation resistance testing of such cables is also required.  Please Note Failure to report promptly each day may result in you missing vital elements of the course and will prevent you from receiving your certificate. As part of the training involves communication in hazardous situations, it is essential that all participants can read, speak and understand English fluently.
