Career Spotlight: Dewi Evans – 28 Years of Hazardous Area Expertise

Dewi Evans hazardous area specialist

C&P Engineering Services is proud to celebrate 28 years of service from Dewi Evans, a highly experienced hazardous area specialist whose expertise has helped shape the company’s technical reputation.

Dewi began his career as an installation electrician working at major industrial sites including BP Baglan, Tata Steel and Llandarcy Oil Refinery. Operating in complex, high-risk environments from the outset, he developed the disciplined, compliance-driven approach that has defined his career.

Over nearly three decades, Dewi has become a recognised authority within C&P for hazardous area electrical installations and inspections. His depth of practical knowledge, combined with decades of site-based experience, gives him a level of technical judgement that only long-term exposure to safety-critical environments can develop.

Reflecting on his journey, Dewi says, “I’ve spent my career working in environments where there’s no margin for error. Hazardous area work demands precision, discipline and a deep understanding of standards. That’s something I’ve built over many years.”

As industry regulations and competency expectations have tightened, Dewi has not only adapted, he has helped lead that progression within C&P. His move from conventional installation work into full turnkey hazardous area solutions mirrors the company’s strategic development into a specialist compliance-led engineering provider.

His expertise spans:

  • Hazardous area electrical inspections
  • Installation and verification in high-risk industrial environments
  • Interpretation and application of evolving safety standards
  • Practical compliance implementation across operational sites

Colleagues and clients value his technical rigour, attention to detail and ability to identify risk before it becomes an issue. His approach is methodical, standards-driven and grounded in real-world industrial experience.

One of the most significant demonstrations of Dewi’s expertise has been his role in developing the C&P Training Centre. From physically constructing the training bays to designing layouts and writing technical course materials, he has directly contributed to raising hazardous area competency standards within the industry.

“The Training Centre was a defining moment. Sharing real-world experience and translating it into structured training required a different skill set, but it reinforced the importance of doing things properly and passing that knowledge on.”

Through delivering complex hazardous area subject matter to engineers, clients and senior professionals, Dewi has played a key role in positioning C&P as a recognised authority in hazardous area competency, nationally and internationally.

After 28 years, his motivation remains grounded in professional pride and team ethos.

“We’ve evolved as the industry has evolved. Staying ahead technically, investing in competence and maintaining high standards, that’s what has kept me committed.”

Dewi’s career reflects the technical depth, discipline and long-term expertise that underpin C&P Engineering Services’ reputation today. We’re fortunate and grateful to have him.
