From Apprentice to Engineering Design Manager

Two years ago, C&P Engineering Services were delighted to welcome Mike to the business.

Mike has a distinguished career and wealth of experience in power generation and chemical processing. A University graduate with a BSc (Hons) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, he began his career at Aberthaw Power station, and advanced his career to become an EC&I supervisor, and E&I Design Engineer, developing the skills and experience required in safety critical environments, which has proved invaluable for C&P Engineering Services to deliver safe, compliant and high-end projects.

Mike has gained a range of technical and safety-related qualifications, including but not limited to TÜV SÜD Functional Safety Engineer, CompEx Certification (EX12A & EX12B), 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (City & Guilds), NVQ Level 3 Technology Maintenance, IOSH Managing Safely, CMI Level 3 First Line Management, CDM Regulations training; reflecting his continued professional development, his leadership capabilities, and deep technical knowledge.

As an E&I Engineering Design Manager, Mike is responsible for leading project teams and overseeing engineering life cycles, from planning, costing, designing, compliance management and commissioning: a testament to his technical acumen and leadership.

At C&P Engineering Mike has led some technically challenging projects, with notable successes including the design and construction of a £250,000 project, where he managed the design and construction of a replacement MCC and instrumentation system for a biogas holder. Additionally, Mike demonstrated his ability to ensure projects meet stringent ATEX, functional safety and machinery safety standards, when he oversaw the equipment review and selection process for a proto-type long-range fuel tank, where there was a key focus on ATEX compliance. His meticulous attention to engineering detail and commitment to robust documentation were instrumental in the success of both projects.

“C&P offers a collaborative environment where you’re encouraged to grow. The team is approachable, the work is varied, and you’re supported every step of the way. I am now working towards achieving Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, with the full backing of C&P.” said Mike.

We are proud to have Mike working with us and look forward to seeing him reach his goal of becoming a Chartered Engineer. He is a real example of the kind of career growth C&P Engineering Services strives to foster.
